Best Locations for a Summer Photoshoot in Boise

Downtown Boise at night with cars driving and mountains in the background

When you start looking for photography locations, you’ll quickly begin to realize that Boise has a lot of aesthetically beautiful places to take pictures. In fact, one may say Boise has some of the best places to take pictures in not only the state of Idaho but the nation as a whole, but we may be a little biased. With summer approaching quickly in the Treasure Valley, the b&b Photography team has picked a few of our favorite places to take photos during the Boise summers, check it out!

Bogus Basin

Although Bogus Basin is typically thought of as a ski mountain, it is equally as breathtaking in the summer as it is in the winter. The grass is growing, and the trees look even better than they do in the winter. In the summer, the lifts are still operational mainly for mountain biking, but also for those that want to go up for the scenery. This is great because you won’t have to worry about hiking up to the top with all of your camera gear to get the best shot possible. The shot you will get at the top of the mountain is as good as it gets: overlooking the mountains, foothills, and the entire city of Boise.

The Foothills

The Boise foothills are one of those locations that seem a little lackluster when thinking about it, but are absolutely jaw-dropping when you see the end results. In the summer, all of the grass dies and turns into a beautiful golden color. The foothills are one of the most popular places to take graduation pictures, and for good reason. The golden rolling hills seem to go on forever in the background if your photographer has the professional eye for it!

Downtown Boise

When speaking about outdoor photoshoot locations, we can’t forget to mention Downtown Boise. A downtown photoshoot in Boise will give you the best of both worlds. You get the great city life that Boise has to offer, but you can still manage to capture the mountains and foothills in the background of the photo. Although smaller than most downtown cities, Boise still has beautiful buildings that will make for great scenery in your photoshoot.

Camel’s Back Park

Camel’s Back Park is an area of scenery that has a lot of rolling hills and could be considered part of the foothills. The difference is that right next to the park you have the beautiful and historic North End of Boise. Here, you can take the short hike to the top of Camel’s Back and capture some amazing photos with huge landscape views in the background. For a complementary shoot location, follow this by going into Hyde Park and snap a few pictures with the historic buildings still standing in this small-town strip!
