B&B Photography Classes

Never quite figured out what all those buttons and options are on your old camera?

We’ve got the solution! Introducing the new series of photography classes from Boise’s premier family photography studio – B&B Photography. Taught by our two photographers, Robin & Scott, each with over 15 years of professional experience, these classes will help you go from “click & pray” to budding amateur photographer in a matter of weeks.

Our first class is a camera introduction class — two hour intensive session to get familiar with the capabilities of your camera. That will be followed by the first in a series of 4 week classes diving into more depth on the art & science of photography.

Camera Intro
(One 2-hour session)

This 2-hour class is a hands on “what are these buttons for” overview of your camera and how it works. For novice photographers primarily photographing in auto mode and are frustrated with trying to learn from the owner’s manual. Class discussions will include; setting the shutter speed & aperture, auto and semi-auto modes (those little pictures that are on your dials or screens), exposure adjustments for auto modes (like when to use it & how to get around it), manual focus, setting the ISO , other camera settings. Don’t worry if you don’t know what any of this means – that’s what the class if for! Plus we’ll briefly cover getting your photos out of the camera and onto a computer. This class is for both compact and SLR camera users.

Photo I
(Four 2-hour sessions)

This 8-hour class builds a foundation from which to start a successful amateur hobby in photography. We’ll cover the fundamentals of light and camera operation from the light meter to the histogram, how all these components work together to create the photographic image, and how you are in control of the results. Weekly assignments and reviews help you:

  • Taking photos on a bright sunny day and how to welcome cloudy days into photography.
  • Practice the principles and techniques learned. When weather permits, we will shoot outside during the class.
  • Learn what exposure is and how can we control it.
  • Become more aware of lighting and how it affects photography.
  • See what do you need to look for to create a great photograph. Basic intro post-processing using Photoshop

Fee: $395.00; class limited to min of 4 and max 8 people
